Get Involved with IMPACT
IMPACT of the Piedmont has been part of this community since 1978 — and the community has always been part of us. The work we do for adults with intellectual, developmental, and mental health challenges doesn’t happen in isolation.
It happens because people like you choose to show up.
Whether you give, volunteer, host an event, or open a door for someone starting their career, your involvement creates real change for real people right here in Davie and Yadkin Counties.

Donate.
IMPACT is 99% government-funded — which means the programs and experiences that fall outside that funding depend entirely on community generosity. Your gift fills those gaps.
It pays for an art class, a community outing, a piece of adaptive equipment, or a moment of joy that a Medicaid reimbursement will never cover. No gift is too small, and every dollar stays local.
Volunteer.
Volunteering with IMPACT is not a passive experience. The people we serve are curious, capable, and genuinely responsive to people who show up with skill and intention.
We have opportunities for skilled volunteers — artists, musicians, fitness instructors, grant writers, gardeners, social media professionals — as well as event support, general program help, and community outing assistance. There is a place here for almost anyone with time to give.
We can also provide documentation of volunteer hours for students and organizations with service requirements.
Become a Sponsor
Sponsoring an IMPACT event or program is one of the most visible ways a business or organization can demonstrate its commitment to this community. Your sponsorship puts your name alongside work that genuinely matters — and reaches an audience of community members, referral networks, donors, and families who notice which organizations show up.
We offer sponsorship opportunities for our annual fundraising events, program initiatives, and special campaigns throughout the year. Sponsorship packages include recognition in print and digital materials, event presence, and the knowledge that your investment is changing lives in Davie and Yadkin Counties.
Contact Julie Wood to discuss current sponsorship opportunities and find the right fit for your organization.
Host a Fundraiser
Some of our most meaningful community support comes from people who simply decide to do something. A dinner. A golf scramble. A workplace giving campaign. A birthday fundraiser. Whatever you enjoy organizing, we’ll support it.
When you host a fundraiser for IMPACT, you’re not just raising money — you’re introducing our mission to your network. Every person who attends your event becomes someone who knows what IMPACT does and who we serve.
We’ll provide our tax-exempt information, talking points, digital assets, and whatever else you need to make your event a success. You bring the idea and the energy. We’ll handle the rest.
There is no minimum. There is no wrong idea. Reach out and let’s talk.
Leave a Legacy
Introducing the IMPACT Founding Legacy Society.
Some gifts outlast a lifetime. A bequest, a beneficiary designation, or a planned gift to IMPACT of the Piedmont is a way of saying that the work of supporting people with intellectual, developmental, and mental health challenges matters — not just today, but for generations to come.
We are establishing the IMPACT Founding Legacy Society to honor the individuals who choose to make IMPACT part of their long-term giving. Founding members will hold a permanent and recognized place in our history as the people who believed in this mission early — and made sure it could continue.
Planned giving doesn’t require great wealth. It requires intention. If you’ve ever thought about what you want your giving to say about you, we’d welcome a quiet conversation.
College Internships
Gain real-world experience doing work that matters.
IMPACT of the Piedmont partners with colleges and universities across the region to host interns across a range of disciplines — from social work and psychology to communications, healthcare, and nonprofit management.
Our interns work alongside experienced staff in real program environments, gaining exposure to the full range of services we provide. We are intentional about making internships meaningful, not just a box to check.
Current partner institutions include Winston-Salem State University, Davidson-Davie Community College, High Point University, Forsyth Tech, Catawba College, and Salem College. If your institution is not listed, reach out — we are open to new partnerships.
