the impact of IMPACT…
Meet Robin!
Three years ago, I was looking for a good part-time job to fill my days while my son went to preschool.
I was browsing INDEED and came across a job opening at IMPACT (then Milling Manor). It was a company that I had never heard of, but it was in my hometown and just a few minutes from my home.
IMPACT required skills that I had with my experience in assisted living facilities and as a med tech, so I applied. After talking with Julie and Jasmine, the QP, I was excited. I really wanted this job. When I got it, I was overjoyed.
I loved working in the community with clients, and later in the group home as a DSP, and a house manager. I had promised myself when my son went to kindergarten, I was going back to school. The plan was originally to become an RN, with this job, things changed. I loved what I was doing, I enjoyed my job and looked forward to coming in every day.
I began playing with the idea of returning to school not to be an RN, but to become qualified to be a QP with IMPACT. I ended up talking with a family member who encouraged me to do this, so to make a long story short, I did.
I am now graduating in May with my associate degree in human services from Davidson-Davie Community College. I have had the pleasure to be able to do my internship hours here at IMPACT learning more about the position that I am working toward becoming. IMPACT is an amazing company to work for and the clients make each day a pleasure.
